Imagine being called to your supervisor’s office to be told, “Things are not working out the way we anticipated; therefore, your position will be terminated as of 10/30/2019.” What would you do? What would you say?

Would you ask for a minute to digest the news you’ve received?

Would you immediately start thinking about your next move?

As you can imagine, employees like you get news like that every day. While many of them land on their feet, many more allow themselves to be crushed by the news.

Don’t allow yourself to be caught unprepared.

Why not compose a personal development plan — the kind of plan that will help you develop the mindset and the skillset to land on your feet should you be told, “Your position will be terminated.”

Wait a minute, before you put pen to paper, be as definitive as you can about the kind of person you want to become. You must answer that question before you determine the kind of career/job you would like to have should you lose your job.

Remember, being comes before doing, and doing comes before having.

By the way, losing your job is not a good or a bad thing. It’s how you respond to the event that matters.
